Anchor Building

Tried a climbing or rappelling class and ready to see what your next step is in growing your skills? This is it! Learn the essentials to building anchors for your trips to the crag!

Held at Looking Glass Rock, this full day course will cover fundamentals in building safe and proper anchors for various situations and environments. An absolute essential skill for those looking to gain more knowledge and experience in climbing and rappelling! We recommend this for those who have some (even if it was just one of our trips!) experience climbing or rappelling.

This class is lead by our friends at Pisgah Climbing School.

Skills covered:

  • anchor building - natural and artificial components

  • climbing equipment - what to buy for your first trad rack

  • cleaning anchors

  • belaying from the top anchor

  • crag etiquette and "Leave No Trace" skills

    Because our teams are often in the backcountry and in areas where communication is difficult. We will honor the cancellation date of when the initial request was sent. Please allow 2-3 days for those communications, if that is the case.

  • Outdoor activities can be inherently dangerous. All participants are required to sign a liability waiver and emergency contact form prior to this event. Please register with an active email address as this will be how we communicate with you and send you paperwork.

    If this event is held with a third-party partner, you may be asked to sign a second waiver or any other documents they require to participate.

  • Trips, classes, and events lead by third-party partners are at-cost and Wild Forces does not collect any revenue.
